UKNW SOUNDS : LIARS (USA)
Throughout the album, the conservative wizards of Liars have ceased to discharge new obscure substances. Indeed, we must be introduced to the theory and opinion of the Liars to know all the touches and subtlety, unless of course, we happen to just fall into their joyful maze of music. For 10 years, they were able to bypass the rules of the game, and constantly reinvent different genres (rock, punk and recently electro). Their constant reinvention could be seen as a search for apossible identity, or at least that’s what they want us believe.
Their sixth album WIXIW, demonstrates a high electronicauthority. Whereasprevious music hada varying organic texture and gave it a certain lyricism, this was in part designed with computers. Their comeback is simply awesome. They come with unparalleled clarity and integrate asound of Nine Inch Nails (see. WIXIW) and furthermore dubstep (see A Ring On Every Finger No.1 Against The Rush). They still keep the mysterious key that drives theirfalse identity sound andit is accentuated by the dark and monotone voice of Angus Andrew.
Ideal for a Charles Burns soundtrack, this calling to God lovers awakens the senses. We wander, we imagine, we suffer along his supernatural paths. A sorcery that we are not ready to forget.
