Vismets, psychotic pop
This snow covered mount appears proud as it points up to the sky. It’s possible to confuse it with Mount Fuji, and be buried by the waves of Hokusai. Some will say that it resembles the symbols of the Illuminati, although these people preferred pyramids to mountains. Without seeking influence or affluent themes, we simply say that the cover is aesthetic. Yes, it’s flashy. Bric-a-brac collages, warm colors and wild atmosphere allow Vismets to release a second album full of psychotic moods and kaleidoscopic years.
This second album almost erases the first one. It must be said that evolution is flagrant; otherwise we’re not talking about the same group. “Guru Voodoo” used Black and mixed it with vintage rock. This has nothing to do with the frenzy of this “Abracadabra” a magic formula that transforms the shy beginning into a solar and aesthetic album that we could listen to in an excess of stunning substances. Not being fond of this kind of maze glorified by the 70’s, I still remember the clown like movement I did with my shoulders when “Dreamers” came on and got inside my mind. And everything starts over again, with each reading, in an uncontrolled and hallucinated torpor. © Julien Catala “Abracadabra” of Vismets, available April 27, 2015 at Roy Music / Universal.
