My holidays at the factory
I won’t brag about knowing the best beaches, specialties and bars of Portugal…No! I just know the minimum to survive in the region of Porto and Braga. The first time I came, I was a tourist. I discovered Porto and the kindness of its inhabitants. I walked through its little streets, took nice tourists’ pics of the bridge, discovered the tons of closed buildings (because there is not enough money to restore them), ate nice deep-frozen fish, saw the factories at the seafront, and went to the amazing Maus Habitos, a bar which is located at the last floor of a parking.
After that, I went to Portugal for OLOW. We go there each year to prepare the collections. Miguel and Marco, our suppliers, made us hit the town: seafront restaurant, grilled fishes, ribs, local alcohol, Super Bock (beer) for one euro, and the famous Francesina (kind of a croque monsieur lying in a strange tomato sauce). It is, for me, something like the Poutine in Quebec – you like it or not, but you eat it. This trip was, like the others, very nice.
We prepared a great collection. The weather which was between rainy and sunny probably inspired us. Just like this wonderful lawn near the factory did, and helped us to choose the best fabrics. The only problem was that I had a cold. The mix of alcohol and medicine had a narcoleptic effect on me.
10 minutes riding with the car, and I was already falling asleep, head against the window. So this time it was pretty quiet, we were not that drunk and Miguel did not puke in the toilets at the fabric suppliers’ office.
Thanks to Marco, who rode on the emergency lane and helped us to get our flight.
