UKNW SOUNDS : THE FAMILY RAIN (UK)
“Before the flood, unload your brains” said Paul Eluard. The upheaval of the past few months comes straight from Bath, England, where “The Family Rain ‘ floods their already soaked fleet of exceptional artists.
Keeping it in the family, twins Tim and Will Walker play a rhythmic, flamboyant, fun blues infused rock’n’roll with a hint of hip-hop. The British indie-pop band could be compared to The Shoes and The Black Keys. Their music works, without influence and without remorseand they are not hiding their influences. They will stop at nothing and out in no time, is their single “Trust Me … I’m A Genius”. They decided for this track to make a handmade clip in the middle of the English countryside with a bicycle, an old bmw and some colorful smoke and flame effects. Rustic, but the clarification is there. Fun and natural. Views on YouTube and various blogs fly out of control. Naturally, a shedload of labels have been offered to them, like “In The Name Of” where the founder is none other than the lovely Lily Allen. Quickly after follows “Carnival”, another single and a promising EP “Pushing It”, which reveals the powerful and controlled aggressiveness of this family.
Keeping intact their teenage dreams and inspirations, twin brothers of ‘The Family Rain’ invent nothing new, but their undeniable maturity confirms that rock’n’roll is not dead and because of that we declare our love.
