UKNW SOUNDS: Young Fathers (Ecosse)

Edimbourg, son château et ses cheveux mouillés. Le genre de spot qui se visite avec les yeux embrouillés et un strabisme dans les pensées. Putain de houblon. Si toi, lecteur aventurier, décide d’user tes semelles sur le pavé de «Old Town», autant s’imprégner de la culture locale en musique. Non, ici nous ne te parlons pas de t’exploser des oreilles à coups de punk obscur aseptisé au Knockando mais plutôt d’écouter ce qui se fait de mieux en matière d’alchimie musicale dans les Lowlands. Un Libérien + un Kenyan + un Écossais = Young Fathers. Ici, l’équipe ne relève plus de l’assemblage mais plutôt de l’équation. Les bases du groupe reposent avant tout sur ses origines et sur une ouverture sonore bien particulière.

Si les grands sbires de la critique musicale se toucheront sûrement sur un mélange primaire entre un flow hip-hop et une composition électronique, «Tape One» mérite bien plus qu’un étiquetage de grande distribution.

 

 

L’un des grands atouts de ce genre de composition, c’est le potentiel d’influences exploitables. Pour faire simple, en débarquant à Édimbourg, Alloysious Massaquoi (Libéria) et Kayus Bankole (Nigéria) ont sorti de leurs sacs bien plus qu’une paire de chaussettes et un Opinel. Les rythmiques,

les variations et les sonorités sont autant de points forts que compte l’album de Young Fathers, et ce en partie grâce à la diversité de ses membres. «Deadline», première piste de «Tape One», est le titre qui tourne en boucle à la rédaction. En guise d’amuse bouche, on pourrait vous livrer quelques comparaisons vaseuses avec des groupes ayant écrit l’histoire. Il n’y a pas plus fort comme pouvoir de persuasion que de rapprocher quelque chose d’une autre. Pas de chance, le côté explorateur du dimanche ne convient pas à Young Fathers et on préfère stimuler le tigre aventurier qui végète en vous. Bon, pour les plus sceptiques, voila une dernière bille plutôt convaincante : Alloysious et ses potes ont signé chez Anticon en fin d’année dernière, rejoignant des noms comme Serengeti, Buck 65 et Why?. Les vrais savent.

You have received your order but the product does not suit you?

You can return your products within 15 days of receiving your package, for any order.

For the festive season, the deadlines are extended to 30 days.

The items must not have been worn, washed or damaged and must be returned in their original packaging, in perfect condition for resale.

How do I return my package from France?

Return shipping from France is free via Mondial Relay.

To return your parcel, it is very simple :

  1. Go to “My account”, in the “My purchases” section,

  2. In the list of your orders, select your order,

  3. If your order is eligible for return, please tick each product you wish to return. If a product has been ordered in several copies, you can indicate the quantity to be returned.

  4. Indicate the reason for the return at the bottom of the order details and click on “Request a return”. You can track your return request in the “Returns” section of the “My purchases” section.

  5. Once your return request has been validated by our team, all you have to do is stick your pre-paid label (provided at the time of delivery) on the package, insert the completed returns form in the parcel and drop it off at a Mondial Relay point.

How can I return my package (International online returns)

International return packages are at the customer’s expense (including cost of shipment by the chosen carrier, customs & duties, taxes, etc.)
